The 2018 WRX STI receives upgraded brakes, revised suspension tuning, tweaked AWD system and new 19 inch wheels. Sadly power and torque remains unchanged at 305 hp and 393 Nm respectively. Many fans around the world are waiting for an all new engine that can keep up with the ever increasing power outputs of the hot hatches of the world.
With the WRX STI representing the top of the Subaru performance line (apart from special editions), Subaru risk diluting the image of the STI, as it’s performance stays relatively static.
Subaru’s Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) and symmetrical all-wheel drive now uses electronic control for quicker and smoother responsiveness. Active torque vectoring and multi-mode vehicle dynamics control remain a part of the WRX handling package. Overall this is a small upgrade with minor tweaks implemented to keep the WRX up to date with it’s competition in the most minimal way possible.
